ANCHOR, ABC 7 DAYBREAK & MIDDAY


Johnny Atkinson is the anchor of ABC 7’s Daybreak and Midday.

Atkinson grew up in Louisiana and graduated from LSU with a degree in Broadcast News.

His first job was in Los Angeles working in news radio, before moving into television.

At a cable system in LA, Johnny rose to Production Manager and was awarded “Employee of the Year” two years in a row.

An independent Los Angeles television station, KDOC-TV, hired Johnny as Production Manager in charge of promos, commercials, and local programming – before the station launched a daily morning newscast. Atkinson then worked three years as a full-time reporter, cameraman, editor, and producer.

He was also a morning anchor at the NBC affiliate in Palm Springs.

Since then, Johnny has worked in various media platforms in areas around Louisiana, Texas, and California. He’s produced and hosted news on different media sources, and he’s worked as a professional writer and illustrator with four books published on “Amazon”. He’s also written numerous screenplays.

Johnny is married with three children and loves his newest home in Amarillo.
