AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — The CDC reports Adult obesity rates now exceed 35 percent in 7 states.
Adult obesity remains at a high all across the country with West Virginia having the highest at 38.1 percent
and Colorado being the lowest at 22 percent. Adults with obesity are at risk of many health conditions.
Some of those conditions include heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, cancer and poor mental health.
But disparities persist across race, ethnicity, and education.
African Americans had the highest prevalence of obesity at 39.0 percent,
followed by Hispanics 32.4 percent and whites at 29.3 percent.
Adults without a high school degree had the highest prevalence of obesity at 35.6 percent.
