The Gruver Greyhounds made their first appearance in the UIL state football championships Wednsesday night in Arlington.

The Hounds ran into a buzzsaw in the Mart Panthers. Mart, the defending Class 2A Division I champion got out the gate quickly, scoring twice on Gruver turnovers and after that the Hounds had to play catch up.

In the end, Mart proved too much for Gruver, winning 76-33. Gruver's Jalin Conyers scored four touchdowns and had over 200 yards receiving. Mart's Tyrek Horne was tough to handle, scoring a record seven touchdowns and rushing for 291 yards.

The Panthers won their second straight title and 6th overall.
