Vic Black called up by Pirates

It's been 30yrs since an Amarillo native has played Major League Baseball until today.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have called up former Amarillo High pitching sensation Victor Black who will join the Pirates for tonights game at Washington. After Pittsburgh's closer Jason Grilli (the NL saves leader ) left last nights game with an arm injury and had to be sent to the disabled list the organization needed to add depth to their bullpen in a hurry. Black has been stellar in the closing role for the Pirates AAA team in Indianapolis. He has a 2.31ERA with 15 saves, plus he was selected to the International Leagues All-Star team.

Congratulations to Vic from Pronews 7 sports.
