Start times for Amarillo Sod Poodles home games revealed

The Amarillo Sod Poodles have released game times for all 70 of their 2019 home games as part of the full 2019 schedule.

The Sod Poodle's inaugural season will start at home on Apr. 8 against the Midland Rockhounds, the Double-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, at 7:05 p.m. The majority of Monday through Saturday games will begin at 7:05 p.m. while Sunday home games will start at 1:05 p.m. in April and May before transitioning to 6:05 p.m. Sunday games in June, July, August and September.

The schedule also includes special early start times for Education S.T.E.M Days and other events with 11:05 a.m. games on Wednesday, May 22 and Aug. 28. Additionally, June 5 is scheduled for 12:05 p.m.

The inaugural season in Amarillo kicks off with 10 home games in April with 17 more home games to be played in May. In June, the Sod Poodles will start their 12-game month with the Texas Rangers Double-A affiliate, the Frisco Roughriders, for a three-game series while also hosting Northwest Arkansas and Tulsa for a six-game homestand before pausing for the 2019 All-Star Break from June 24-26.

Amarillo then begins an 11-game July with a four-game set against Frisco on Independence Day. August and the first part of September will include 19 more home games to round out the Sod Poodles' first regular season including eight more matchups with the Roughriders, four more home games against Midland and an eight-game homestand against Tulsa and Arkansas to end the regular season home schedule.

The Texas League consists of two divisions, North and South, will Amarillo being added to the South division. South division teams include the Corpus Christi Hooks (Houston Astros), the Rockhounds, and Frisco. In the North, teams include the Arkansas Travelers (Seattle Mariners), Tulsa Drillers (Los Angeles Dodgers), Northwest Arkansas Naturals (Kansas City Royals), and Springfield Cardinals (St. Louis Cardinals).

The season occurs in two halves, crowning a first-half and second-half champion with 70 games each at home and on the road within the two divisions. Playoffs and the championship series begin immediately following the end of the regular season in early September.
