Sod Poodles hosting auditions for game day entertainment
AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) —
The Amarillo Sod Poodles will be hosting public auditions for National Anthem performances, Public Address Announcers, On-Field Emcees and Mascot Entertainers for the inaugural 2019 season on Feb. 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Gilvin Broadcast Center at Amarillo College (Panhandle PBS), located at 2408 S. Jackson Street.
Soloists, duets, trios and quartets are invited to audition "The Star-Spangled Banner" and "God Bless America" for a chance to perform during the 2019 season at Hodgetown. Two winning contestants will be determined by a panel of guest judges but many names will be noted for opportunities to perform during the season. The two winning contestants will be given an opportunity to perform either on Opening Night or Independence Day.
All vocal performances must be a cappella or accompanied by a personal instrument and only traditional renditions of songs will be considered for selection. Each performer may audition for the National Anthem or "God Bless America" and will be considered for either song.
Public address announcer, on-field emcee and mascot auditions will be held at the same time as National Anthem auditions. Candidates for these roles will be provided with instructions, materials and/or scripts on-site after checking in. Individuals auditioning for the mascot position must be between 5'8" to 5'10" in height for the costume fit and those auditioning are asked to wear workout-type or athletic attire. Mascot experience with a high school, college and/or sports team is preferred.
To request an audition time for any of the categories, contact Sierra Todd by email at SierraT@sodpoodles.com with the position applied for in the subject line.
Walk-up auditions on Feb. 23 are welcome but are not guaranteed and will be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis, as time permits. To ensure a performance slot, contacting ahead of time is recommended since time slots are also limited.
