DORAL, Fla. (CBS12) — Police in South Florida arrested a science teacher who they say "professed" her love for a 13-year-old boy.

Doral Police on Friday arrested and charged 47-year-old Andrea Jimenez with two counts of lewd and lascivious conduct on a child and using a computer for prohibited purposes.

Jimenez, a teacher at Doral International Academy of Math & Science, sent the boy text messages in which she expressed her love for him, and be with him in an intimate way," according to Doral Police. Police said she also corresponded with the boy via Snapchat and Instagram.

Police said Jimenez started sending the texts in May. At one point during the end of the school year last spring, the boy said Jimenez lured him into her classroom and tried to kiss her. The boy was 12 at the time.

Authorities said Jimenez also bought him clothes, shoes, electronics, and books, according to the report.

The boy told police he never told his parents because he believed he was doing something wrong, the report said. His parents found the text messages and called the school principal who called police. According to the report, Jimenez sent a text to the boy's mother asking for forgiveness and that she was embarrassed.
