Albuquerque man killed after glider aircraft crash
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KVII) —
An Albuquerque man was killed as a result of a plane crash near the Moriarty Airport on Tuesday night.
According to the New Mexico State Police, at about 8:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a downed aircraft in Torrance County. The crash happened about two to three miles east of the Moriarty, N.M. Airport on private land near Stage Coach Lane.
Investigators on the scene said that Renard Rozzoni, 65, of Albuquerque was flying his 2017 Ventus 3F glider aircraft near the Moriarty Airport when it crashed for unknown reasons. Rozzoni sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the cause and nature of the crash.
