CANYON, Texas (KVII) — West Texas A&M University Athletics announced a partnership with Six Car Pub & Brewery in Amarillo to create a signature beer for WT Athletics.
According to the university, the partnership introduces a unique branding and revenue generation opportunity as WT Athletics becomes one of several colleges and athletic departments to have a licensing agreement for a branded beer. A portion of the sales will be donated to WT Athletics.
"Brewing the official beer for WT Athletics is the coolest opportunity we've had since we started Six Car" Colin Cummings, co-owner of Six Car Pub & Brewery said "It fits our community focus and gives us a chance to be good neighbors with our favorite university."
Fans will choose the name of the beer through an online campaign. Fans can submit their name ideas through this link.
The nomination form will last until Monday, July 23 at 12 p.m., then the finalists are scheduled to be announced July 24 and the official name is scheduled to be announced on Aug. 1.
"Giving the public the chance to name the beer only increases appeal of this partnership," Cummings said. "We're planning to brew something a wide variety of beer drinkers will enjoy, so we expect to choose a name everyone can love."
Six Car Pub & Brewery is a brewery located on the corner of 7th Avenue and Polk Street in downtown Amarillo.
"We are excited about our partnership with Six Car and their support of the Buffs and Lady Buffs" WT Director of Athletics Michael McBroom said "I know our fans will embrace the opportunity to help name the beer and we look forward to the first pour."
