An investigation is underway into a structure fire resulting in the death of one person in Pampa.

The Pampa Fire Department said 60-year-old David Carroll Prestidge died in a blaze that started in a house at 1020 Scott Street.

Authorities said while Prestidge's wife was able to escape the blaze, she was taken by LifeStar to the burn unit in Lubbock for treatment of injures.

According to officials, firefighters arrived at the fire around 5:50 a.m., and multiple units and crews worked for more than two hours to extinguish the fire.

The PFD called in assistance from the Hoover Volunteer Fire Department, which sent 12 personnel.
