TxDOT plans open house to discuss U.S. 54 road rehabilitation

The Texas Department of Transportation has scheduled an informational meeting regarding the rehabilitation of U.S. 54 through the city of Stratford.

The meeting is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, May 21, at the Sherman County Exhibit Barn, 501 S. Maple St. in Stratford, according to a TxDOT news release

Area residents and business owners will be able review maps and exhibits, make comments, and ask questions, the release stated. There will be a brief presentation at 6:30 p.m.

The project proposes upgrading the existing U.S. 54 roadway through the city of Stratford by upgrading the existing pavement to concrete, with sidewalks and pedestrian accommodations, from west of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad crossing to east of Farm-to-Market Road 2677.

Improvements to existing driveways would also occur as part of the proposed project, according to the release
