Trash-off planned for Palo Duro Canyon

Texans will have a chance to pick up debris and toss it into the trash Saturday at Palo Duro Canyon State Park.

Once again it’s time for Texans to tidy up Palo Duro Canyon State Park and the rest of the state, according to a park news release.

The Texas Trash-Off is the largest one-day cleanup event in Texas. This is an opportunity to join with people across the Lone Star State on Saturday, and make Texas a cleaner, more beautiful place, according to the release. The cleanup efforts will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

To prepare for Saturday’s event park officials say to dress for the weather and wear close-toed walking shoes or boots. Work gloves, rubber gloves, trash bags, and trash grabbers will be available at the park, according to the release. Sunglasses, hats, and sunscreen are highly recommended.

Those wishing to participate should meet at the picnic table in front of park headquarters. Look for uniformed park staff.

Entrance fees to the park are waived for those coming to volunteer, the park said. After the event, you will have free access to the park to hike, bike, picnic, or whatever other activities you enjoy.
