STRATFORD, Texas (KVII) — Update: Authorities remained on the scene overnight investigating the officer-involved shooting Wednesday in Stratford. Sherman County Sheriff Office officials and Stratford Police were seen finishing up the investigation around 4:45 a.m. Thursday.
The incident took place in two separate lots, the Pilot Travel Center and a Toot'n Totum across the street. A vehicle involved in the incident was towed away from the Toot'n Totum lot shortly before 5:00 a.m., as officers removed the caution tape surrounding the area.
A witness revealed to ABC 7 News, that he saw two people in the vehicle first pull into the Pilot lot, then tried to get away from officers by driving off, jumping over a curb, and drove over to the Toot'n Totum. The witness said he saw officers shoot towards the vehicle. The witness detailed the account by saying he believed one of the people in the vehicle died on the scene and another person was transported to the hospital.
Authorities have only confirmed that a Stratford officer was involved in a shooting and that an investigation is ongoing.

DPS Public Information Officer Cindy Barkley tells ABC 7 News that it happened around 7:30 p.m. in the Pilot Travel Center parking lot.
She said it involves a Stratford Police officer.
