The Area 16 Soccer Competition scheduled for Saturday has been postponed because of expected frigid temperatures, according to an organization release.

More than 45 athletes from across the Panhandle Area were expected to show off their skills and go toe-to-toe on the pitch.

To qualify for this competition, teams have trained for a minimum of eight weeks. Athletes ranging in age from 8 to 46 were to play Saturday.

When rescheduled, teams also will be playing to qualify for the state competition Summer Games, which will take place May 24 -27 at UT-Arlington, according to information from the organization.
