With the recent abundance of rain, water levels at area lakes have been rising drastically.

At Lake Meredith National Park, the "quicker than expected rising waters and associated erosion" have caused a temporary closure at one of the main trails.

South Turkey Creek Trail is temporarily closed after the first mile, according to the Lake Meredith National Recreation Area Facebook page.

"We are working on an alternative route for this section of" the trail, a post on the page stated.
