Amarillo police are investigating an incident where a vehicle was shot at Wednesday night.

According to APD, officers were dispatched to the 3400- block of Meadow Dr. on Nov. 18, on a call of vandalism and when officers arrived they were told a suspect's vehicle was shot at. The caller told officers he was woken up by noise coming from his driveway around 7 a.m. so he grabbed his 12 gauge shotgun and went outside to see what was going on.

Police said the caller noticed someone had busted out numerous windows on his vehicle so he turned to go inside his home to call police. Before he got inside his house, he saw a vehicle he recognized as his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend's driving down the street.

Police said the man told them he heard what he thought was a gunshot coming from the vehicle as it got closer, so he fired one shot from his shotgun. He said he believed the hit did strike the passenger back door area of the vehicle. He told police the suspect then left the area.

APD said the suspect has not been found as of Friday at 9:30 a.m. and the incident was still under investigation.
