Police investigate early morning shooting at apartment complex

Two men have been arrested after an early morning shooting.

At 1:19 a.m. Wednesday Amarillo police received a call that shots had been fired near the Broadstone Apartment complex located near SW 10th and South Parker Street.

Richard Daniel Wilbanks, 25, and Chace Neil Whisenhunt, 25, were driving a silver Lexus and were pulled over by police this morning as they were driving away from where the gunshots were being heard.

According to police, their investigation found out that the Lexus had been chasing what looked like a Honda SUV and the people were shooting back and forth at each other.

Wilbanks has been arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful carrying of a weapon. Whisenhunt has been arrested fro aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

Several buildings have been hit by gunfire, but no injuries have been reported. The SUV has also not been located.

This case is still under investigation.
