Student arrested following social media threat to Plainview High School

UPDATE | The student believed to be responsible for a social media threat against Plainview High School has been identified and is in police custody, according to the Plainview ISD website.

The threat was made on Tuesday, Oct. 10, and security at all PISD campuses was increased on Wednesday.

PISD said they "will not tolerate any threats of harm against students or staff."

On their website, PISD said this was not a topic to be joked about or taken lightly. They said when an issue is reported to them, the District takes it "very seriously" and works with the Plainview Police Department to immediately investigate the matter.

ORIGINAL STORY | Police in Plainview are investigating after a threat was made on social media against Plainview High School.

According to the Plainview Independent School District, they District was made aware of the threat on Wednesday. They said the threat was against the high school and no other schools were directly threatened.

PISD said they are currently working with the Plainview Police Department and taking the appropriate action. They said "school will proceed on regular schedule today with enhanced security including additional police presence. Every campus is aware of the situation and extra precaution is being taken at all campuses."
