One dead after vehicle hydroplanes, loses control on East I-40

Police are continuing to investigate after a single vehicle accident caused the death of one woman just before noon on Friday, Oct. 30.

According to police, 50-year-old Irene Kay Reyna was driving a 2006 Dodge Ram pickup eastbound on I-40 near Pullman Rd. when the vehicle hydroplaned. Reyna lost control of the pickup and the vehicle slid into a guardrail and rolled down the embankment, coming to a rest in the 11000- block of East I-40 access road.

Police said Reyna and the passenger in her vehicle, 20-year-old Robert David Reyna were taken were taken to a local hospital where the woman died from her injuries. Robert Reyna was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

According to APD, Justice of the Peace Richard Herman has ordered an autopsy and the wreck is being investigated by the APD Traffic Investigation Squad.
