N.M. AG to host school safety summit

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Attorney General Gary King is hosting a summit for educators, parents, government officials, law enforcement and others to explore how to improve the safety of New Mexico's schools.

King said the summit is scheduled in Albuquerque on Oct. 24, and there's no charge to attend.

There will be presentations by school safety specialists, and sessions to discuss topics such as school emergency plans, student mental health, bullying and youth gun violence.

The summit is to run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Albuquerque Embassy Suites.

People wishing to attend the event can register in advance online at the attorney general's web site or at the hotel on the day of the summit.
