Jimmy Don Bowling, 64, was arrested after shots he fired went through a wall in a nearby apartment building.

Amarillo Police Department went to the scene on Hastings yesterday afternoon around 1:30 p.m. Officers heard a shot from inside the apartment when they arrived, and a few moments later, Bowling walked out onto the porch holding a handgun.

Bowling was told to put the handgun down, but did not comply with officer's instructions for him to move away from the gun.

Officers used a taser to take Bowling into custody, and the police also took possession of the 9 mm handgun that Bowling used during the incident. Officers also found a rifle in the home.

APD spoke to the two people in the nearby apartment that was hit with the gun shots. They said they saw the shots come through a room of their home and got on the floor.

No one was injured by the gunfire and Bowling has been taken to the Potter County Detention Center and booked for deadly conduct by discharging a firearm at the occupied building.
