A man who was involved in a standoff with the Amarillo Police Department SWAT team on Thursday has been arrested and charged with murder after remains were found in the house.

According to police, detectives followed up on a homicide that happened inside the city. They received information that led them to an address in the 1700 block of S. Monroe Street.

Detectives saw a person look out the window but the subject refused to speak to them. Surveillance was maintained on the house while detectives obtained a search warrant for the property.

A Critical Incident Response was initiated due to the nature of the call and information that the suspect was armed.

37-year-old Matthew Ryan Hubbell eventually came out of the house and was taken into custody.

Police then located a deceased person inside the house.

Hubbard was later booked into the Potter County Detention Center on a murder charge.

Justice of the Peace Debbie Horn ordered an autopsy on the body. The identity of the deceased will be released when they are positively identified.

The investigation remains ongoing and anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the APD's Homicide Unit at (806) 378-9468.
