After 24 hours and two time changes, a rescue team from Los Angeles County made it to Amarillo on their way to the Carolina's.

The crew, all members of the Los Angeles County Fire Department, said they are veterans of such relief efforts, having come to Texas in 2009 after Hurricane Ike.

About 4:30 they stopped at the Toot'n Totum at Washington and Wolflin streets to fill up their vehicles and grab a quick bite to eat. The team, and their six trucks and two boats, were on their way again about 20 minutes later.
