Law enforcement searching for escaped inmate in Claude

    The Armstrong County Sheriff's Office is alerting citizens to an inmate who has escaped in Claude.

    According to officials, the inmate, Alan Odell Rhone, is described as a black male, about 47-years-old, standing 6'2" and weighing about 230 pounds. He was booked on Feb. 13 for possession of marijuana under two ounces.

    The Armstrong County Sheriff's Office says that Texas Department of Correction dogs are on the way to assist with the search. The dogs are scent specific and law enforcement does not want scenes to be contaminated so residents are being advised to remain indoors.

    Agencies involved in the search include the Armstrong County Sheriff's Office, Carson County Sheriff's Office, Donley County Sheriff's Office, Gray County Sheriff's Office, State Park Police, Claude Fire Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety, including the DPS helicopter.
