Jenkins Doors & Windows burns in Thursday morning fire

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Fire crews are on the scene of a smoldering fire Wednesday morning in Amarillo.

Crews said they went to Jenkins Doors & Windows on the 1000 block of SW 5th around 5:11 a.m.

When they got there minutes later, they saw fire coming from the overhead door in the building's front.

After starting to battle the fire, crews had to leave the building when it started to become structurally unsafe inside.

The fire was called under control at 9:07 a.m., but crews stayed at the scene to mop up any hot spots from the smoldering structure.

Nobody was hurt and fire marshals are investigating.

26 firefighters were at the scene.
