A Houston-area man is facing charges after he confronted the boy who allegedly bullied his step-daughter.

James Olander Peace is charged with felony injury to a child, for slapping a 12-year-old Deer Park boy across the face.

Peace's wife says her husband was sticking up for her daughter. She says the boy was making fun of her daughter, questioning her gender and throwing ice cream at her.

And when her step-father saw the boy he couldn't let it go.

"He was slapped across the face with an open hand, had red marks and swelling to his cheek and upper jaw," said Lt. Chris Brown with the Deer Park Police Department.

Court records say after that slap, this step-father threatened the boy not to tell police or he'd beat him up.

Peace's wife says her husband's emotions got the best of him.
