GRUVER, Texas (KVII) — Volunteer firefighters from Gruver and Spearman spent about five hours battling a blaze at a home on Monday.
According to the Gruver Volunteer Fire Department, the fire happened about 1 mile west of Gruver on Hwy. 15. About 30 firefighters from both towns responded to the blaze at the two-story home and saw smoke coming from the eves of the house.
Firefighters made countless trips between the scene and the fire station filling all the air bottles needed to fight the fire. They also turned on all the water pumps for the city in order for the firefighters to fight the fire.
GVFD said the fire appears to have started in the hallway close to the kitchen and dining room. No one was home when the fire started.
The GFD said they would like to hank Gruver City employees, Gruver EMS, Spearman Fire Department and the Hansford County Sheriff's Department for their help.
