DALHART, Texas (KVII) — The airport in Dalhart was damaged overnight after a hangar and some buildings were in flames overnight Friday.
According to the Dalhart Volunteer Fire Department, at about 3:15 a.m., crews were sent to the Dalhart airport on a report of a building on fire. Firefighters found a hangar and other buildings with equipment fully-involved, as well as some grass fires started by embers around the airport.
Investigators are still working to determine what caused the fire and crews are working to get the flames suppressed. The public is advised to stay away from the area.
Along with Dalhart VFD, Hartley Fire Department, Channing Fire Department, Texline Fire Department, Dalhart Police, Hartley County Sheriff's Office, Xcel Energy, WTG and AMR responded to the blaze.
