The Texas Department of State Health Services has confirmed 114 cases of COVID-19 are associated with JBS Plant in Cactus.

DSHS confirmed to ABC 7 that the JBS Plant organized a meeting with the department last week to ensure they were doing everything possible to keep employees safe.

Representatives from the plant brought pictures to the meeting and DSHS officials made suggestions for improvements. The plant then invited state health officials to come and tour the plant.

Health officials visited the plant on Wednesday and saw that recommendations to operate an essential business safely were being followed.

The plant has assisted DSHS in epidemiological investigations by identifying close contacts of employees who test positive for COVID-19 and taking the appropriate public health action.

Though there are 114 cases of the virus associated with the plant, not all of them are in Moore County. There has been community spread reported in the area.
