Dozens of people got in the Panhandle spirit Saturday morning by lacing up their running shoes to help a good cause.

It was part of the 5th annual MTK Memorial Run/Walk.

The event is inspired by Madison Taylor Knebusch, a 16-year-old girl who died in 2012 from a rare cancer.

All proceeds go to the MTK Foundation which raises money for kids with cancer.

Foundation members tell ABC 7 News they raised over $12,000 last year and work to get more each year.

“There's a lot of children right now in the Panhandle fighting cancer and we would love to have your support, so that we can be able to help more and more children and their families,” said MTK board member Madison Knebusch’s mother, Shannon Knebusch.
