Downtown Amarillo structure fire causes thousands in damages

Downtown Amarillo structure fire causes $17,000 in damages, according the the Amarillo Fire Department. (ABC 7 Amarillo-Dakota Kessler)

The Amarillo Fire Department responded to the 109 S. Tyler St. on a reported fire at 8:59 p.m. Saturday.

When crews arrived, they found a vacant commercial building heavily involved with fire.

AFD said crews began an exterior defensive fire attack from multiple positions around the building.

A total of eight fire units and 26 firefighters responded to the fire.

Officials said there were no injuries.

The fire was brought under control at 10:11 p.m.

The cause is under investigation.

Fire damages are estimated at $17,000.
