Dimmitt superintendent named Region 16 Superintendent of the Year
DIMMITT, Texas (KVII) —
Region 16 Education Service Center announced Tuesday that Dimmitt Independent School District Superintendent Bryan Davis has been named the 2018 Region 16 Superintendent of the Year.
Davis will represent Region 16 as the nominee for the 2018 Texas Association of School Boards Texas Superintendent of the Year.
Every year, candidates are chosen based on strong leadership skills, dedication to improving the quality of education in their school districts, commitment to public support and involvement in education and the ability to build good employee relations among teachers and staff members.
"Bryan is a wonderful example of the outstanding educators we have here in the Panhandle area," Ray Cogburn, Region 16 ESC Executive Director said. "Everyone at Region 16 is proud to honor such a dedicated superintendent. I know Bryan will represent our area well at the state level."
Candidates are nominated by their respective school board but respective school board members are not allowed to be on the panel of judges.
The panel of judges consists of regional school board members and TASB representatives and selects the winner on the basis of their responses to a series of essay questions.
Each regional winner's application will be sent to the 2018 TASA/TASB Annual Convention. The state winner will be announced in September.
