Dalhart volunteer firefighter suffers heart attack while battling grass fire

A volunteer firefighter for the Dalhart Volunteer Fire Department suffered a heart attack while fighting a grass fire near Dalhart on Thursday.

According to a GoFundMe page, Ryan Beattie suffered a severe heart attack while battling the blaze and the GoFundMe account has been set up to help Beattie and his family.

The GoFundMe page explains that Beattie does not currently have medical insurance because he "he just started working at Hilmar Cheese Factory."

Beattie and his significant other have two children together.

Donations can also be made to the family at Dalhart Federal Savings & Loan by making a check payable to Ryan Beattie and dropping it off to the bank or mailing it in. The bank's address is 502 Denrock Ave, Dalhart Texas, 79022. If making a donation at the bank, people are asked to add the words "Attention to Sheryl Hall or Abby Cook."
