Child who survived Portales hot car incident gets to go home after 8 weeks of care
PORTALES, N.M. (KVII) —
The little girl who survived a hot car incident in Portales is getting to go home after spending eight weeks getting care in Lubbock.
According to a post on Aubrianna (Aubri) Loya's mother's Facebook page, Aubri got to go home on Monday.
Aubri, who recently turned 2-years-old, survived after being left in a hot car in late July for about 90 minutes. Another child, 22-month-old Maliyah Jones, who was left in the vehicle with Aubri, did not survive. Temperatures reached into the 90s on that day.
The two daycare workers, 62-year-old Mary Taylor and 31-year-old Sandi Taylor, are charged with First Degree Child Abuse Resulting in Death and First Degree Child Abuse Resulting in Great Bodily Harm.
