Burglary suspect arrested by Canyon police
CANYON, Texas (KVII) —
The Canyon Police Department arrested a man wanted for burglary after brief standoff on Tuesday morning.
According to Canyon Police Chief Dale Davis, shortly after 10 a.m., police went to the 500 block of 3rd Street in Canyon in an attempt to locate a wanted fugitive. The fugitive was identified as Antonio Andrada, an 18-year-old Hispanic male.
Police had information that Andrada was definitely inside the residence and possibly hiding in the attic. Two acquaintances were found inside and removed from the house.
Canyon police and the Randall County Sheriff's Office then set up a perimeter around the residence. Canyon Police Emergency Response Team and the Randall County Tactical team were deployed.
The subject voluntarily came out upon arrival of the Randall County Bearcat armored unit and was taken into custody. He is in custody at the Canyon Police Department.
Andrada is wanted for two counts of burglary of a residence. There are other cases at the Randall County District Attorney's Office pending further charges.
The subject was featured on the Canyon Police Department Facebook page yesterday.
Andrada had fled from police on two prior occasions.
