AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Bowie Middle School students hope to help the homeless stay warm, starting with their feet.
The school’s 5th Annual Socks for the Homeless drive is underway with students collecting socks for the homeless through Feb. 26. On Feb. 27, students will deliver the socks to Guyon Saunders Resource Center.
Christian Burgos, 8th grade, and Kristyn Oliver, 7th grade, explained their program to ABC 7 Amarillo’s Anthony Pittman.
“I think socks are overlooked,” Christian said, adding that people might give shirts or pants, but “socks are important, too.”
Sock donations are being accepted at the administrative office at Bowie Middle School.
