A woman from Borger and a man from Sanford were arrested following a multi-county pursuit that started in Petersburg Thursday around 10:30 a.m.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said 19-year-old Khilyn LaShae Shouse, from Borger, and 40-year-old Danny Joe Geer, from Sanford, were arrested after the pursuit that began when a Hale County Sheriff's Deputy tried to stop the 2012 Chevrolet pickup they were in near FM-789. The pickup was reportedly stolen from Amarillo on Wednesday.

DPS said during the chase, one of the suspects shot at a deputy with a shotgun. The deputy returned fire and initiated a pursuit, which ended near CR-3900 and CR-6900 near Lorenzo, when both suspects got out of the pickup and fled on foot.

Geer fired at law enforcement officials when he took cover under some farm equipment, DPS said. A two-hour long standoff ensued and ended when law enforcement officials returned fire, Geer was shot in the leg. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries, then booked into the Lubbock County Jail on two charges of Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant, according to jail records.

Shouse was also captured and arrested. Jail records show she was booked into the Lubbock County Jail for Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle and two counts of Assault Against a Public Servant.

Texas Highway Patrol Troopers, along with HCSO Deputies and the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office assisted in the pursuit.

The Texas Rangers are investigating the incident and are being assisted by THP Crash Reconstruction Troopers.
