BORGER, Texas (KVII) — A student at Borger High School recently made a perfect score on the SAT. It puts Lars Nelson in rare company. Fewer than one percent of the 2.1 million students who took the SAT during the 2018/19 school year made a 1,600.
Lars Nelson tells ABC 7 News he has qualified for state competitions in a number of academic subjects and loves solving problems.
“Well, I didn’t expect it because I didn’t expect the website to load so fast,” said Nelson. “When I saw the number 1,600 on the test I took I scrolled down and scrolled back up and saw that it was a 1,600. I did a little fist bump, I was like yeah.”
Nelson tells ABC 7 News he plans to pursue a career in chemical engineering or in law after college.
