26-year-old Canadian man identified as person injured in gas well explosion

A 26-year-old Canadian man was severely injured following an explosion at a gas well Tuesday morning.

According to the Hemphill County Sheriff's Office, the man has been identified as Josh White. He was working a site for Lenorman Operating, about 15 miles south of Canadian, when high pressure gas built up in the well head and a portion of the well head exploded.

White was airlifted by LifeStar Ambulance to Lubbock University Medical Center.

HCSO said White's left leg was "very crushed", as was his right arm and there was major traumatic injuries to his limbs.

As of 2 p.m., White was being prepped for surgery and listed in critical condition.
