DPS identifies woman who died in crash outside Hereford

The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the person who died in a crash outside Hereford Friday morning as a 40-year-old Amarillo woman.

According to DPS, Troopers were called to the two-vehicle crash on Hwy. 60 in Deaf Smith County around 10:30 a.m.

DPS said a semi was headed westbound in the outside lane on US-60, about six miles east of Hereford. A 2015 Dodge Caravan driven by Mambrye Vallejo-King was headed westbound behind the semi when the truck made a left turn into the crossover from the outside lane. Vallejo-King collided into the back of the semi.

Vallejo-King was pronounced dead at the scene, DPS said. The driver of the semi was not injured. Both were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

DPS said the crash is still under investigation.
