APHS, Starlight Ranch Event Center partnering to open first members-only dog park
AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) —
The Amarillo Panhandle Humane Society and the Starlight Ranch Event Center are partnering to open the first-ever members-only off-leash dog park in Amarillo.
According to Starlight Ranch, the event center has donated the Big Bone Dog Park to the APHS to help provide the community, as well as tourists, a safe-haven to take their dogs while enjoying a night under the stars. Starlight Ranch has donated 15 acres of land to APHS where they hope to open a new facility that will provide services such as dog therapy to the community.
Big Bone Dog Park will open May 28 to the public from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Members will have the opportunity to meet other dog lovers while enjoying food and drinks.
Every Monday there will be "Mondays, Mutts, Margaritas and Music" featuring live music and Yappy Hour specials from Bar Z Winery Wines, Laughing Margaritas and Craft Beer. Throughout the season on Mondays, dog lovers will be able to visit local booths highlighting dog nutrition, obedience, grooming and meet-up groups.
To become a Big Bone Dog Park member, please schedule a valuation with APHS by calling (806) 373-1716. The membership ensures that all animals are properly vaccinated and well tempered before entering the park. Vaccination requirements must be up-to-date and include Rabies, DAPP and Bordetella to become an approved member.
