AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — The Amarillo Police Department announced Wednesday that it will be upgrading its records management system but the process will cause some delays to records request by the public.
According to a news release, the switch to the new records system will start on Thursday and is expected to be completed by Tuesday.
However, the police department will not be able to fulfill requests for copies of police records during the change over.
Officers will continue to answer service calls and make reports but copies of these reports will be delayed by five to seven days.
Online reporting and phone requests will be limited but still available during this time.
Accident reports will not be affected by the records management upgrade.
APD says it would like to thank the public for their patience during this transition and it is the department's intent that the new records system will provide better services for the Amarillo community.
