APD investigates personal robbery

Amarillo Police Department is investigating a personal robbery after an Amarillo man reported he was robbed at knife point Sunday morning.
According to APD, officers responded to the personal robbery call in the 900 block of Charlotte at approximately 7:25 a.m. Sunday morning. Officers learned that a man had been shopping at a nearby store when he was first approached by the suspect who was asking for money. APD said the victim told the suspect he did not have any money and continued shopping.
The victim later withdrew money from an ATM before heading back to his residence in the 900 block of Charlotte. The victim told officers he saw the suspect again as he left the store. The victim said the suspect then crossed the street and began following the victim home. Once the victim reached his apartment the suspect forced him inside, pulled a knife, threatened him and took the victim's money from his wallet before leaving the scene.
In a news release APD said the suspect is described as a black male in his late 30s, five-feet tall with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a brown jacket and blue jeans.
