The Amarillo Police Department confirmed Saturday morning 25-year-old Celia Nicole Camacho is no longer a fugitive.

Authorities said Camacho turned her self in at the Potter County Sheriff's Office around 6:00 Friday evening.

She was then booked into the Potter County Detention Center, according to APD.

Camacho was Amarillo Crime Stopper's "Fugitive of the Week," wanted out of Potter County for a 2nd degree felony of Injury to a Child Causing Serious Bodily Injury.

Potter County court documents showed she running a daycare out of her home in the 2400 block of S. Washington in August.

Four-month-old Actavio Chairez was put into her care on the morning of August 12, according to the complaint.

Officers were dispatched to the home at 3:10 p.m. on reports of an unresponsive child that was not breathing. At that time, the baby was transported to the hospital where he was declared dead.

The complaint later states Camacho admitted in a recorded interview that she wrapped the baby in a blanket and left him in a warm bedroom for hours.

The documents said by failing to provide adequate care or nutrition the baby became dehydrated.

The Special Crimes Unit said the case was referred to the 47th District Attorney’s Office, which accepted the second degree felony charges of injury to a child.
