AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Amarillo police have released new information on an incident Monday morning that left two people dead in a driveway near downtown Amarillo, calling it "justifiable homicide."
In an email, APD detectives said a person was at home when they confronted someone trying to break in.
A fight followed, during which another person also tried to reportedly attack the homeowner.
Police said the homeowner was armed and shot both of the alleged burglars.
Both suspects, 27-year-old Jesus Maldonado and 43-year-old Anthony Adams died at the scene.
The homeowner who shot them was interviewed by detectives but ultimately released.
The case is still under investigation and will be presented to a Potter County grand jury at a later date.
