Amarillo police have released new information on an incident Monday morning that left two people dead in a driveway near downtown Amarillo, calling it "justifiable homicide."

In an email, APD detectives said a person was at home when they confronted someone trying to break in.

A fight followed, during which another person also tried to reportedly attack the homeowner.

Police said the homeowner was armed and shot both of the alleged burglars.

Both suspects, 27-year-old Jesus Maldonado and 43-year-old Anthony Adams died at the scene.

The homeowner who shot them was interviewed by detectives but ultimately released.

The case is still under investigation and will be presented to a Potter County grand jury at a later date.
