Amarillo City Council, Mayoral candidates to draw for ballot position

    Candidates for Amarillo City Council for the May 4 election will draw for ballot position on Thursday at 8:15 a.m.

    The drawing for ballot position will be at City Hall in the City Council Chamber, Third Floor, 601 S. Buchanan Street. Candidates will be official at this time.

    The candidates for the May 4 election for Amarillo City Council are:

    • Mayor: Kip Billups; Ginger Nelson (Incumbent); Claudette Smith.
    • Councilmember/Place 1: Elaine Hays (Incumbent); Richard Herman; Jay U. Kirkman III; Hayden Pedigo.
    • Councilmember/Place 2: Treva Harper; Freda Powell (Incumbent).
    • Councilmember/Place 3: Eddy Sauer (Incumbent); Brad Torch, Tom Warren II.
    • Councilmember/Place 4: Steven Rosas; Howard Smith (Incumbent).

    Friday is the last day for candidates to withdraw their names from the ballot. The last day to register to vote in the May 4 election is Thursday, Apr. 4.

    Early voting will begin Monday, Apr. 22 and end on Tuesday, Apr. 30.
