The Amarillo Area Corvette Club will host the Don W. Houghton Memorial Polk Street Cruise on Aug. 4 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., although, it could possibly be the last time the cruise happens.

However, according to the club, due to high costs imposed by the City of Amarillo next year, this will likely be the final year the club is able to hold the event.

The Amarillo Area Corvette Club is a nonprofit which raises money through a car show and other events but the money is earmarked for two local charities.

The club said on its Facebook page that it hopes the City will recognize the nostalgic cruise on Polk as a community event and work with them again next year to keep costs to a minimum for the people to continue cruising on Polk.
