TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — Thirty-two former research beagles took their first steps to freedom today, Sept. 7.
A majority of these dogs are in their golden years and have spent their life being tested on in Oklahoma.
They were finally released into the care of Beagle Freedom Project families to live the rest of their lives with.
These families will provide the dogs with treats and cuddles, as it should have always been.
"We are celebrating that these dogs, once treated as test subjects, are finally getting the life and love they deserve,” says animal rights attorney and BFP Founder/President Shannon Keith. "However, our job is to put an end to animal testing once and for all. There is no need for this, and we are working towards this every day."
