3 arrested on drug charges, including former Sunray High principal
AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) —
Three people were arrested for drug charges after Amarillo Police Department officers responded to a trespassing call early Monday morning, including the former Sunray High School principal.
According to authorities, at about 2:35 a.m., officers were dispatched to 18 Western Plaza Drive on a trespass. A group of people coming and going from the hotel were causing a disturbance to the other guests.
Officers made contact with Chad Edward Walker, 44, Amanda Leann Walker, 31, and Sidney Lee Whiteley, 51, and observed what is believed to be methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia in open view after entering the room.
Chad and Amanda Walker were arrested for manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, greater than or equal to 400 grams, and possession of marijuana over four ounces but less than five pounds. Whiteley was arrested for possession of a controlled substance over one gram but less than four grams.
Whiteley was the former Sunray High School principal. He tendered his resignation in December 2017, set to become effective in June. However, Whiteley's duties were removed on March 27 and assigned to other staff.
School officials became aware of Whiteley's arrest at about 8 a.m. this morning.
All subjects were booked into the Potter County Detention Center.
