Center City of Amarillo welcomed the holiday season with its annual Electric Light Parade at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1 with great weather and more than 70 entries.

Mayor Ginger Nelson and members of the City Council served as Grand Marshals for the event. The City of Amarillo Parks and Recreation Department co-sponsored the parade, which concluded with the lighting of the city’s 40-foot Christmas tree at the Amarillo Civic Center.

Xcel Energy was the title sponsor for the parade. Golden Spread Electric Cooperative Inc. sponsored cash prizes for parade entries. Theme for the year was “Songs of the Season.”

Volunteer judges rated these floats as the prizewinners:

Best of Show Winner with a $350 cash prize was the musical, drama “Texas.”

Business Category Winners:

First Place with a $250 cash prize: RSM Builders Supply

Second Place with a $150 cash prize: Sonic Drive-In

Third Place with a $100 cash prize: Display Concepts

Honorable Mention with a $50 cash prize: The Pergola Shop

Non-Profit awards group:

First Place with a $250 cash prize: Amarillo Firefighters Pipes & Drums

Second Place with a $150 cash prize: Amarillo Collegiate Academy Music Club

Third Place with a $100 cash prize: Jubilee Apostolic Church
